You\u2019ve probably heard of it\u2014for the famous <em>ko\u0161ava<\/em> wind and the wine. But only when you experience them for yourself will you see just how special they are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vr\u0161ac is unique in many ways. A flatland town crowned by a hill, with 19 bridges but no river. A place where you\u2019ll never leave hungry\u2014or thirsty (once a year the town keys are symbolically handed over to Vinko Lozi\u0107, the avatar of Bacchus himself).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you come to WordCamp Vr\u0161ac, the packed program won\u2019t leave you much free time to explore all the charms of the city. Still, make the most of it\u2014or stay a few extra days to really feel the pulse of Vr\u0161ac. Stroll through its streets and admire the beautiful fa\u00e7ades of old buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visit Sterija\u2019s House, the Orthodox Cathedral and the Bishop\u2019s Palace, the largest Catholic cathedral in the region, and the quirky \u201cpharmacy on the steps.\u201d The permanent exhibition in the oldest building in Vr\u0161ac will not leave you indifferent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure to climb the Hill. Stop by the viewpoint near the little chapel, visit the church of St. Theodore of Vr\u0161ac, and then follow the \u201cHealth Trail\u201d through the forest to the Tower. The city\u2019s landmark will take you back to the times of battles between the Ottomans and the Austro-Hungarians\u2014and you might even catch paragliders dancing in the air. Back in town, sit down at one of the caf\u00e9s on the square and soak up the rhythm of city life. And don\u2019t forget to treat yourself: try the unique <em>i\u0161leri<\/em> pastries and Banat\u2019s poppy seed ice cream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Oh, the food here\u2026<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Vr\u0161ac\u2019s culinary tradition, dating back to the 18th century, is a delightful blend of the nations that lived here. Serbian, Hungarian, and German cuisines all come together on the same table, promising unforgettable gastronomic experiences. Turkey with sauerkraut and cherry sauce is a must at festive occasions, alongside pumpkin stew with Wiener schnitzels, vineyard goulash\u2026 And for dessert: strudels, dumplings, and of course, poppy seed noodles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our recommendation? Choose one of the many local restaurants and let the chefs surprise you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">And as for drinks\u2026<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Few haven\u2019t heard of Vr\u0161ac wines. For centuries they\u2019ve been prized across Europe, even gracing royal courts. Yet the wines of small, family-owned wineries are reserved only for the lucky few. You\u2019re among them. All WordCamp participants will get to discover these secret delights at the Saturday night party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vr\u0161ac also has its own craft beer brand. We suggest sampling the full Krugher &amp; Brent lineup and finding your favorite.
